A change in season may call for a change in your skincare!

October 3, 2022 by debbiedavis

I think we can all agree that we are over the moon, finally seeing lower temperatures outside. Cool evening breezes, fall decor and soup are all things that we have to look forward to! Just like the seasons change, so does our skin, and therefore so should our skincare routine. Consistently reevaluating your skincare routine as well as your own skin’s needs is an important part of maintaining a clear and age-defying complexion as time goes on.

Your skin is constantly trying to communicate with you, so first and foremost pay attention and listen to the signs and signals that it sends!

Ways your skin might be trying to talk to you:

If you are breaking out easily – If you have become way more breakout prone and you know your hormones and diet aren’t to blame, the cause might be a damaged skin barrier. This may be a sign that you are overdoing it with a certain product or that you are using something too harsh for your skin.

Trying to reinforce your skin barrier might need to be prioritized over cleansing. If this is the case, I highly suggest the Sleekskin® Arnica Barrier Serum as an addition to your skincare routine, thanks to an infusion of 15% Arnica.

If your skin has lost some elasticity and you’ve noticed more fine lines and wrinkles – Your skin might be lacking in hydration.

Incorporating a product containing hyaluronic acid, like Sleekskin® Telomere Intensive Moisturizer, might be just what your skin needs. Hyaluronic acid helps the skin cell hold onto moisture, making skin appear plumper and firmer. As a bonus, this product is also rich in peptides, another way to promote healthier skin 😉

If you have been noticing more dark spots and pigmentation, your skin might be under increased oxidative stress – Give your skin vitamins and nutrients is important to keeping it healthy, just like the rest of our body.

Try adding Sleekskin® Brilliance Antioxidant Serum to give your skin a literal multivitamin! It is packed with antioxidants that protect your skin as well as lightening agents like vitamin C to visibly correct dark spots from acne scars, sun damage and more.

Whatever changes you have noticed in your skin, remember that just like our weather, it moves in seasons. It needs change and to evolve, so we must change how we care for it accordingly. If you need help learning how to adapt your skincare routine to the current season of your skin, or which products are best to accommodate it, get in touch with Sleekskin® Aesthetics in Scottsdale today!

How to Start Fall off with Fabulous Skin!

September 7, 2022 by debbiedavis

Who wouldn’t want to start off the Fall season with fabulous skin?! After the harsh summer and humid monsoon season coming to an end, that might be easier said than done for some of us. Fortunately, Sleekskin® Aesthetics has just the solution for you! Our latest addition to the Sleekskin® service menu, The Rezenerate NanoFacial, is referred to as “the perfect balance between science and beauty,” and for good reason.

What is the Rezenerate NanoFacial?

Rezenerate NanoFacials is a facial that applies what they refer to as “the golden ratio” to the gentle and effective treatment of microchanneling. Through the utilization of

  • Acupressure
  • Facial Exercises
  • Cold Therapy

Along-side the very best products that are customized for your skincare goals that truly provide unmatched results!

What are the benefits of the Rezenerate Facial?

This incredible technology is great for addressing:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Malnourished skin
  • Oily or dehydrated skin
  • Sun & age spots
  • Blemishes and other imperfections
  • Uneven skin tone and texture

Perfect for getting your skin gorgeous and glowing just in time for the season to change!

This facial is non-invasive and requires little to no down time, making it ideal for those that are looking for a less aggressive but equally-as-effective treatment similar to microneedling. For this reason it is great for those that have more sensitive skin or those that could be a little more breakout-prone.

Of course, like all treatments, there are always those exceptions, so be sure to discuss your skin with your esthetician prior to your facial. That being said, this facial is generally great with most skin-types!

If you’re interested in scheduling a Rezenerate Facial here at Sleekskin® Aesthetics, located in Scottsdale, Arizona or you’re wondering if it is a good fit for your skin type and needs, get in touch today!

Skincare’s Latest Noninvasive Rejuvenation Method

August 2, 2022 by debbiedavis

The skincare world is always evolving thanks to constant research and innovative products emerging every day! One of the latest and greatest facial treatments to make its debut is Microchanneling!

What is Microchanneling?

Microchanneling is a non-invasive and pain-free service that essentially produces a small, microscopic wound in the top layer of the skin to produce a natural and healthy healing response. It also allows deeper penetration of serums and other topicals used during your facials! A few other benefits of microchanneling include:

  • Exfoliating the skin
  • Increasing collagen production
  • Improving elasticity
  • Reducing scarring
  • Minimizing fine lines and wrinkles

What is the difference between Microneedling and Microchanneling?

The primary difference between microneedling and microchanneling is the process in which the microscopic wound is created. Microneedling uses just that, very fine needles. Microchanneling, on the other hand, uses small hair-like silicon tips. Because needles used in microneedling are more aggressive on the skin they definitely have a few cons, including:

  • Requiring more downtime after your treatment
  • Irritation to skin prone to redness
  • Possible breakouts, especially if your skin is acne prone
  • Not being the most relaxing form of  treatment

Microchanneling is far less aggressive in its approach while still providing comparable results. It is so gentle, in fact, that it is safe to use around the hard-to-treat lines around the eyes and lips, making it a great alternative to treatments that require injections as well. Now you can get a little something done to spruce up your appearance before an upcoming event, without having to pencil in healing time afterward. It is also a fabulous way to truly get a bang for your buck with all of the products used during your facial, as it promotes product penetration unlike ever before!
Find out for yourself why this non-invasive and pain-free skin procedure is now one of Sleekskin® Aesthetics’ most sought after facial services by scheduling yourself a visit today!

Peptides and all of their Amazing Benefits

June 29, 2022 by debbiedavis

Sleekskin Aesthetics® prides itself on staying up to date on the best skincare ingredients in order to provide our customers with the results beyond their wildest dreams! One type of ingredient found in quite a few of Sleekskin Aesthetics® at-home skincare products, as well as facial treatment products, are peptides. And for good reason! If you’re unsure exactly what peptides are, or what the benefits of using them might be, but still prioritize your complexion, then I can assure you that you’re in the right place and reading the right blog 😉

What are Peptides?

Simply put, peptides are chains of amino acids linked together. Amino acids are building blocks of proteins such as the collagen and elastin in our:

  • Hair
  • Skin
  • Nails
  • Teeth
  • Muscles

These amino acids are crucial for the structure and function of the cells that make up our body, maintaining integrity to keep us strong, healthy and beautiful.

The benefits of incorporating peptides into your skincare routine

There are several different types of peptides and multiple ways to incorporate them into your skincare routine. Sleekskin Aesthetics®, for instance, features four different products containing peptides that are suited for different skin types and desired results.

  • Sleekskin® Factor 10 Cream: A go-to for most clients looking to encourage cell turnover, producing youthful, dewy skin.
  • Sleekskin® Telomere Intensive Moisturizer: Ideal for clients really looking for an extra boost in elastin to smooth and tighten fine lines and wrinkles. I highly recommend this to my clients with a more mature complexion.
  • Sleekskin® Rapid Restoration Serum: The perfect skincare product containing peptides for both dehydrated and oily skin, delivering everything it needs to restore balance.
  • Sleekskin® Vibrant eye serum: A perfect option that is a more targeted treatment for the sensitive and harder to treat skin around the eyes, addressing chronological aging for firmer skin.

Whatever Sleekskin® Aesthetics peptide containing product you decide to go with, you can look forward to countless benefits. You can get excited about:

  • Protecting the skin from environmental stress and damage
  • Increasing collagen production
  • Eliminating acne-causing bacteria
  • Improving the skin’s texture
  • Strengthening the skin barrier
  • Calming irritation
  • Reducing damage from free radicals with anti-inflammatory properties
  • Soothing irritated and dry skin

With many other additional benefits. There is no question whether it is worth it or not to incorporate peptides into your skincare routine. Instead, the question is simply, Which Sleekskin® Aesthetics skincare product is best for your skin type and desired skin complexion goals?

To get matched with your perfect peptide-containing product, schedule a facial with Sleekskin® Aesthetics or head straight to our online store to shop all of our skincare products today!

Summer has arrived! Here is what your skin will need to survive!

June 1, 2022 by debbiedavis

Summer is officially here!!!! Which means beach vacations, BBQ’s and Sundays by the pool! You hear fun, fun, fun, but as your esthetician all I hear is sun damage, premature aging, and pigmentation!

As a lover of the beach myself, I would never tell you to flat out avoid the sun, however, I will urge you to take extreme precautions when it comes to your time spent in the sun. One study stated that sun exposure could account for as much as 80% of visible signs of aging.

  • Freckling
  • Dark spots
  • DNA damage
  • Melanoma and other cancers
  • Skin wrinkling
  • Dryness
  • Loss of elasticity and suppleness

…Are all consequences of unprotected time spent in the sun.  So how does one protect themselves in the sun and are there ways to prevent some of the damage we withstand? I’m so glad you asked 😉

Ways to protect yourself in the sun

The absolute best way to protect yourself is to avoid being in direct sunlight during the times of day when the UV index is at its strongest. This is usually between 10:00-3:00 pm but can vary depending on your location and the time of year. Of course, if you live in a place like Scottsdale, Arizona and it’s June, the sun is pretty harsh regardless of the time of day. Here are some other more reasonable safety precautions we can take:

Using a quality SPF:  We personally recommend and sell TIZO since it is reef-friendly and free of chemical fillers found in most sunscreen products. Regardless of what sunscreen you decide to go with, be sure to reapply it every two hours, or more if you’re in the water!

Wear protective sun gear: Accessories like wide brimmed hats, sunglasses and bathing suit covers can be your skin’s best friends!

Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water and eat foods that are full of it, such as cucumbers and melon, to help keep the skin nourished. Think of your skin like a sponge left out in the sun! You need to keep getting the sponge wet or it will lose its moisture, just like us 🙂

But can more be done to omit the damage done by the sun?

While you cannot completely cancel out the damage done by the sun, there are certain things that we can do to lessen the severity.

Astaxanthin: This antioxidant has been shown to reduce loss of moisture from sun exposure while helping to reduce oxidative stress. Astaxanthin can be found in skincare products like Sleekskin® Brilliance Antioxidant Serum.

Nicotinamide: A powerful nutrient derived from vitamin B3 that helps reduce UV induced immunosuppression as well as assisting with DNA repair. You can get this by eating a diet rich in:

  • Poultry
  • Fish
  • Eggs

CoQ10: Another antioxidant that helps protect the skin from sun damage at a molecular level. Using CoQ10 topically has been shown to reduce the effects of oxidative stress, which is one reason we love it as one of the many effective ingredients in our Sleekskin® Cranberry Quench Cream! It makes it the perfect moisturizer to hydrate and treat the skin before and after your time in the sun!

There are so many ways to make your time having fun in the sun safe for your skin… Admittedly it does take a little planning and thoughtfulness, but it is more than worth it! Keep a sunbag packed with all of your sun-safety necessities so you never forget anything and head to www.sleekskinaz.com to shop for products that will keep your skin safe and protected from the aging sun-rays!
