Is Your Skin Feeling Adored… or Ignored?

Be honest… when was the last time you checked in with your skin?

We’re heading into the season of shopping lists, family gatherings, and doing a little something for everyone else. Somewhere between planning dinner and finding the perfect gift, your own routine can get a little less attention.

November is National Healthy Skin Month, so consider this your friendly nudge from me: let’s give your complexion some love!

A little more moisture, please!

Enjoying those cooler mornings? Your skin may be asking for a wardrobe change of its own.

If your usual moisturizer isn’t keeping your skin comfortable, it may be time for a richer formula. Apply moisturizer while your skin is still slightly damp to help hold onto that moisture, and keep showers warm rather than hot. Our Telomere Intensive Moisturizer is a great option!

And don’t forget your hands and lips! A hand cream by the sink and a lip balm in your bag can make those little moments of care much easier to remember.

Your SPF is still on duty

Sweater weather doesn’t mean sunscreen gets a vacation, especially here in Arizona!

Keep broad-spectrum, water-resistant SPF 30 or higher in your daily routine. Our personal favorite is Tizo, available for purchase in studio! When you’re outdoors, reapply every two hours and after swimming or sweating, and give your skin extra protection with shade, a hat, and protective clothing.

Your future complexion will appreciate the consistency!

Give your skin some breathing room

A scrub here, an exfoliating serum there, a new treatment you saw online… sound familiar?

It’s tempting to try everything when you’re hoping for results. But piling on products can leave your skin irritated rather than refreshed. A gentle cleanser, a moisturizer that suits your skin, and sun protection are a lovely place to start.

Thinking about retinol or another active ingredient? Introduce new products gradually and follow their directions. If your skin is already dry, stinging, or irritated, get guidance before adding more.

Give your routine a little direction

Whether you’re noticing dark spots, breakouts, or fine lines, choosing products with a purpose can help take some of the guesswork out of your routine.

Ingredients such as retinol and vitamin C may have a place, but what’s right for your skin depends on its needs and what you’re already using. Professional treatments deserve that same thoughtful approach.

At your next visit, let’s talk about your goals and explore which products or treatments make sense for you. And if a concern needs a dermatologist’s attention, make that part of your plan, too.

Make room for yourself, too

A walk outside, a little stretching, or time spent doing something you enjoy deserves a place on that busy November calendar.

Stress can show up in your skin, including breakouts and flare-ups of existing skin conditions. You don’t have to make relaxation another assignment—just find a few small opportunities to unwind.

Consider this permission to take that breather!

Bring a little color to your plate

Your skincare routine may live on the bathroom counter, but nourishing your skin includes what’s on your plate, too.

Enjoy a variety of colorful fruits and vegetables, protein, and healthy fats. Think berries, leafy greens, nuts, salmon, and seasonal favorites like sweet potatoes, which provide beta-carotene that your body can convert to vitamin A.

No complicated menu required. Start with foods you enjoy, add some variety, and make room for meals that leave you feeling nourished.

Get to know your skin

Caring for your skin also means paying attention to changes.

Take time to look over your skin, including the places you don’t see every day. If you notice a new or changing spot, or one that itches or bleeds, make an appointment with a board-certified dermatologist.

Facials are a wonderful opportunity for pampering, but medical skin concerns deserve medical care.

Let’s move your skin to the “adored” list

You don’t need a shelf full of products or a perfect routine. A little attention, the right care, and consistency go a long way.

At your next Sleekskin® visit, let’s chat about how your skin is feeling and what it might need this season.

You take care of so many things. Let’s make sure your skin is one of them.
